What is dredging?
Dredging is the process of removing accumulated sediment from the bottom or banks of water bodies, including rivers, lakes or streams. Regular maintenance of dredging is important in coastal areas with high tidal activity in water bodies that are prone to silting with sediment, sand and mud. Regular dredging increases the flood discharge capacity of the river, reduces the occurrence of floods, and the construction of various projects after dredging is relatively simple, the consumption of a large number of engineering materials and manpower is reduced.
Dredging is an important basic project for ports and shipping industry, and it is an important guarantee for the development of the national economy. With the rapid development of the economy, the port is becoming more and more busy, and the proportion of water transportation is gradually increasing. Therefore, the importance of dredging projects has been paid more and more attention.
Use of dredging:
● Maintain or deepen existing shipping lanes, ports and berths to allow free flow of maritime traffic
● Construct foundations for bridges, piers or docks
● Sand and gravel are dredged from offshore licensed areas for use by the construction industry, mainly for concrete
● Dredging removes pollutants from chemical spills, sewage buildup, buildup of rotting vegetation, and stormwater runoff
● In some water bodies, sediments may contain trace amounts of precious metals such as gold and diamonds. Dredging can help excavate these deposits
The application of dredgers makes dredging project easier and simpler. CDSR supplies a series of dredging hose products for dredgers.
